IG Hosts Women's Conference in Medellín, Colombia

Recently, five members from our Iglesia Gracia campus traveled to Medellín, Colombia, to host a conference for women’s ministry leaders from over 30 different local churches. This conference used Biblical Femininity as the framework to study what it looks like to invite, nurture, and partner, to live like a child of God rather than an orphan, to share testimonies, and so much more.

IG member Claudia Jimenez and others have been helping for some time now to equip leaders in Colombia—a land full of vibrant culture, warm people, and breathtaking natural beauty. Because family and reputation matter so much to many Colombians, women sometimes feel pressure to stay quiet about personal struggles or to conform to traditional expectations. There is a deep hunger and thirst for sound theological women’s resources in Spanish—something much harder to find across Latin America.

Representatives from many different churches have been asking our IG folks for materials in Spanish (like Biblical Femininity, Body Matters, or Shame) and for help in equipping members of local churches to bring these teachings to their congregations. This recent conference in Colombia was a big step toward answering that call.

Around 80 folks traveled to the conference in Medellín from over 30 different churches—some even selling things to financially afford the trip. The three-day retreat equipped leaders by looking at key facets of how God created women, and how to lead as women in this season and in this culture.

The fruit of this conference gently unfolded through reflection, confession, and repentance in leadership, before closing with the hope of the gospel. Nathalie Richard reflected:

“I was impacted by the longing the women had for Jesus—for his presence, his Word, and a life of repentance. Their desire to turn from sin and fully turn to God and what he has called them to as women was truly inspiring.”
