God’s Righteousness vs Self-Righteousness

We often compare our sin to the sins of those around us, and we tend to create a standard for our sin that appeases our conscience. There are ways we consider ourselves as righteous, but ultimately we want to choose God's standard of righteousness because of what he has done for us, not because of what we do.
