The gospel of Mark tells the story of God's Kingdom breaking into life on earth in a new way. With a focus on fast-paced storytelling, Mark portrays Jesus as the One who possesses all authority and rules a Kingdom unlike any earthly kingdom. The powers of this world surrounding him do all they can to stop him. But Jesus, the servant-king, will give up his life on the cross, only to rise again and overcome all that is opposed to God's Kingdom. Mark invites us along the way to see the up-and-down journey of Jesus' disciples. He provides the opportunity for us to gauge our own faith, courage, and sacrifice in following a king like Jesus and spreading the Good News of his Kingdom to others.
