Get to Know Grace Staff: Turner Vaughn, Powdersville Campus Pastor

Faithfully Gathered

We have staff members in both campus staff and support staff roles all over the Upstate! We want you to get to know some of them as you stay updated with what’s happening at Grace Church.

What brought you to Grace Church?

Way back in 2012, Courtney and I were engaged and we were trying to figure out what was next. We had a friend who had started attending Grace when it met at The Handlebar and had mentioned great things about Grace. I was in a position where I needed a job to support Courtney through grad school. So I sent a cold email to Matt Kelley to ask him some questions, and here we are!

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I think of two things mainly. The first is people, to be able to work with people day in and day out is a joy for me. As a natural extrovert, I am thankful and honored by the work that God allows me to do in people’s lives. The second is the diversity of my role. I am someone who can get bored easily, and I love being able to work in so many different areas.

What is your favorite thing about your campus?

I love the Powdersville community. They have welcomed us with open arms. They care for each other in a fierce way. They love their community and those in it. Courtney and I are humbled and grateful to be a part of what God is doing in this community.

What are you most excited about right now?

Wednesday nights have been a unique blessing for our campus. We have re:gen, re|engage, Divorce Support, and Money Matters running all at once. It has created a great sense of energy and community engagement. The other piece is children’s ministry. We are running a version of our Up & Out curriculum on Wednesday nights to help impact kids in the community and as part of the Dream Center Opportunity Village.

What is one interesting thing about you?

I majored in global politics and minored in Mandarin in college. I have lost most of the language proficiency, but it's still a fun fact!
