Missions Grants Spotlight | Just Say Something
One facet of our Outreach ministry is Missions Grants—a funding program that invites our members to apply for yearly grants up to $2,500 to support specific projects or programs of their personal ministry that serve the Upstate. As applications for Missions Grants are now open, we’d love to highlight the ministry of one of our current recipients. Recently, Iglesia Gracia member Mally Mitchell received a grant on behalf of Just Say Something.

Just Say Something is a nonprofit organization working to help youth, parents, and communities have open, honest, and ongoing conversations about risky behavior, drugs, and alcohol. One of their programs available in the Upstate is the Strengthening Families Program—an 11-week class proven to help reduce child maltreatment and at-risk behaviors among youth while improving social competencies, school performance, parent-child bonding, and effective parenting skills.
Mally Mitchell serves Latino families in this program and recently received a Missions Grant to help facilitate the graduation of 27 families from this free class in the Berea area. The parenting curriculum equips families with practical tools for better communication, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution through a trauma-informed, culturally relevant format.
A parent recently shared:
“Before this program, dinner time was silent or stressful. Now we laugh, talk, and share.”
Another reflected:
“I never imagined my teenager saying thank you for bringing us to these classes. That meant everything to me.”

The grant was used to celebrate these families by hosting a graduation ceremony, providing meals, and awarding recognition gifts to honor their commitment and reinforce the tools they gained through this transformative journey.
We are thankful to Mally and the leadership at Just Say Something for sharing how God is working through this ministry to strengthen families and create a lasting impact. Many of our members are involved in personal ministry within their immediate community, and that’s why we offer Missions Grants.
