Parables

A parable is simply a story that illustrates a spiritual truth. All of Jesus’ parables had a purpose. He spoke to specific groups of people to disciple them around a particular issue. For example, some parables warned the Pharisees of their self-righteousness, and other stories revealed secrets of God’s Kingdom to his disciples. Many different people heard these teachings, but Jesus was clear that only those who had eyes to see and ears to hear would truly understand. As we study a few of Jesus’ parables, you will be challenged at times, but you will also learn truths that expand and clarify your view of God.
