Partnership with Hunger Corp in Puerto Rico | Summer 2026
Within a few days, I could see the beauty of the work that Hunger Corp has been doing. Through a construction setting, they are providing space to really build relationships for the Lord. I started to realize that my real work in Dorado was simply to join in what God’s been doing by connecting with the people around me. Many hours of stuccoing ceilings and walls created the space for conversations that glorified the Lord and brought honor to his work.
Shannon Wilson, a member of our Travelers Rest campus, shares her experience and captures the heart behind our partnership with Hunger Corp. This local nonprofit organization leads ongoing restoration efforts in Puerto Rico—an area still reeling from a series of natural disasters. Through a gospel-centered approach, they display the love of Christ as homes are rebuilt, businesses are restored, and communities are strengthened. Through short-term mission trips, we have the privilege of joining in the work that God is already doing.

This summer, two of our teams traveled to Puerto Rico to help with several projects. One of these projects was rebuilding a home for Luis “Chepo” Medina. Hear from Chepo in the video below:
Serving others has a way of discipling our own hearts. Shannon’s husband, Bill Wilson, also opens up about his experience:
At first, I felt like I was in over my head on a construction mission trip. I knew it would take me out of my comfort zone and push me beyond my normal limitations. I hoped that doing something I had always been afraid to do would move me toward the Lord. Now that it’s over, I can say that it definitely did. All the fears and hopes I had were fully met by God.

Hunger Corp sums up the work this summer well:
Every wall being worked on, every surface being prepared, and every detail completed brings us one step closer to seeing this home finished. But beyond the physical work, we continue to see what can happen when people are willing to serve with their time, their hands, and their resources.

We are so grateful for Hunger Corp and all they are doing to bring stability and a living witness and testimony to underserved communities. Please join us in prayer for their continued efforts.
