Psalm 118:1-29

Psalm 118:1-29

Scripture

1 Give thanks to theĀ Lord, for he is good!Ā Ā Ā Ā
His faithful love endures forever.
2Ā Let all Israel repeat:Ā Ā Ā Ā
ā€œHis faithful love endures forever.ā€
3Ā Let Aaron’s descendants, the priests, repeat:Ā Ā Ā Ā
ā€œHis faithful love endures forever.ā€
4Ā Let all who fear theĀ LordĀ repeat:Ā Ā Ā Ā
ā€œHis faithful love endures forever.ā€

5Ā In my distress I prayed to theĀ Lord,Ā Ā Ā Ā
and theĀ LordĀ answered me and set me free.
6Ā TheĀ LordĀ is for me, so I will have no fear.Ā Ā Ā Ā
What can mere people do to me?
7Ā Yes, theĀ LordĀ is for me; he will help me.Ā Ā Ā Ā
I will look in triumph at those who hate me.
8Ā It is better to take refuge in theĀ LordĀ Ā Ā Ā
than to trust in people.
9Ā It is better to take refuge in theĀ LordĀ Ā Ā Ā
than to trust in princes.

10Ā Though hostile nations surrounded me,Ā Ā Ā Ā
I destroyed them all with the authority of theĀ
Lord.
11Ā Yes, they surrounded and attacked me,Ā Ā Ā Ā
but I destroyed them all with the authority of
theĀ Lord.
12Ā They swarmed around me like bees;Ā Ā Ā Ā
they blazed against me like a crackling fire.Ā Ā Ā Ā
But I destroyed them all with the authority of
theĀ Lord.
13Ā My enemies did their best to kill me,Ā Ā Ā Ā
but theĀ LordĀ rescued me.
14Ā TheĀ LordĀ is my strength and my song;Ā Ā Ā Ā
he has given me victory.
15Ā Songs of joy and victory are sung in the camp of
the godly.Ā Ā Ā Ā
The strong right arm of theĀ LordĀ has done
glorious things!
16Ā The strong right arm of theĀ LordĀ is raised in
triumph.Ā Ā Ā Ā
The strong right arm of theĀ LordĀ has done
glorious things!
17Ā I will not die; instead, I will liveĀ Ā Ā Ā
to tell what theĀ LordĀ has done.
18Ā TheĀ LordĀ has punished me severely,Ā Ā Ā Ā
but he did not let me die.

19Ā Open for me the gates where the righteous enter,Ā Ā Ā Ā
and I will go in and thank theĀ Lord.
20Ā These gates lead to the presence of theĀ Lord,Ā Ā Ā Ā
and the godly enter there.
21Ā I thank you for answering my prayerĀ Ā Ā Ā
and giving me victory!

22Ā The stone that the builders rejectedĀ Ā Ā Ā
has now become the cornerstone.
23Ā This is theĀ Lord’s doing,Ā Ā Ā Ā
and it is wonderful to see.
24Ā This is the day theĀ LordĀ has made.Ā Ā Ā Ā
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
25Ā Please,Ā Lord, please save us.Ā Ā Ā Ā
Please,Ā Lord, please give us success.
26Ā Bless the one who comes in the name of theĀ
Lord.Ā Ā Ā Ā
We bless you from the house of theĀ Lord.
27Ā TheĀ LordĀ is God, shining upon us.Ā Ā Ā Ā
Take the sacrifice and bind it with cords on the
altar.
28Ā You are my God, and I will praise you!Ā Ā Ā Ā
You are my God, and I will exalt you!

29Ā Give thanks to theĀ Lord, for he is good!Ā Ā Ā Ā
His faithful love endures forever.
